Welcome back to the Better Together podcast and Week 3 of our “Foundation of Our Faith” series.

In Week 1, we looked at why a rational person would believe in God.

In Week 2, we saw why the Bible is a reliable source to learn about God.

Now in Week 3, Pastor Jason gets very practical: if God is real and His Word is true, how do I actually grow in a real walk with Him?

In this episode, Jason walks through three essential habits every believer needs:

A real relationship with God’s Word – not just owning a Bible, but reading it, studying it, and meditating on it. He talks about one-year Bible reading plans, why consistency matters more than perfection, and four ways to approach Scripture:

1. Read it consistently

2. Read it expectantly

3. Read it obediently

4. Read it conversationally—treating Bible reading as a two-way conversation with God.

A Bible-teaching church – why you need to be part of a local body that teaches the whole counsel of God, chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Jason explains that the church exists for worship (up-reach), evangelism (out-reach), and equipping believers (in-reach), and he encourages you to plug into a fellowship where the Word of God is central.

A consistent prayer life – not just “saying prayers,” but bringing your real anxieties, fears, and needs to the Lord daily. Jason unpacks Jesus’ teaching on prayer in Matthew 6:5–13, Paul’s exhortation to be anxious for nothing in Philippians 4:6–7, and Peter’s call to cast our cares on the Lord in 1 Peter 5:7, showing how prayer builds spiritual strength the way resistance builds physical strength.

If you’re sensing God drawing you back to church, back to His Word, or into a deeper walk with Him, this episode will help you take your next steps—practically, biblically, and with confidence that God wants you to grow.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

-Why the Bible is more than a “religious book” and really a love letter from God to you.

-Several practical ways to read through Scripture (including the one-year Bible approach).

-How to move from just “hearing” the Word to doing the Word.

-Why being part of a Bible-teaching church is essential for spiritual growth.

-How a daily, honest prayer life helps you lay down fear and anxiety at Jesus’ feet.
