Revelation Chapter 8-9: The Seven Trumpet Judgments and God’s Call to Repent

In EP13 of our Revelation series, Pastor Jason teaches through Revelation chapters 8-9, where the seventh seal opens and the seven trumpet judgments begin. These judgments are interconnected — the seventh seal opens the trumpets, and the seventh trumpet will later open the bowl judgments.

This study covers:

-The silence in heaven after the seventh seal (Revelation chapter eight, verse one) and the incense offered with the prayers of the saints.

-The first four trumpet judgments affecting the world’s environment: devastation to vegetation, oceans, fresh water, and the sun, moon, and stars (Revelation chapter eight, verses six through thirteen).

-The three “woes” that follow, including the demonic locust torment under the fifth trumpet (Revelation chapter nine, verses one through twelve) and the massive army that kills a third of mankind in the sixth trumpet (Revelation chapter nine, verses thirteen through nineteen).

-God’s purpose in judgment: cleansing what sin has defiled, preparing the earth for Christ’s kingdom, and calling the world to turn back to Him (Joel chapter two, verses eleven through fourteen).

As heavy as these chapters are, they show the truth about the coming tribulation and the compassion of God, who still pleads with people to repent and be saved.
