Biblical Thought Life: Taking Every Thought Captive
Welcome to Better Together, the podcast ministry of Jason and Christy Duff Ministries.
In this episode, we talk about the battlefield of the mind—and why Scripture treats your thought life as a serious part of discipleship. What begins in the heart often becomes words, actions, habits, and ultimately character. Jesus teaches that what comes out of us reveals what is truly within us (Matthew 15:10–20), and the New Testament repeatedly calls believers to set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
We discuss practical, biblical ways to fight worry, anxiety, and temptation:
-Guarding the heart as the “wellspring of life” (Proverbs chapter 4:23)
-Taking thoughts captive and bringing them to Christ (Second Corinthians chapter 10:5)
-Replacing anxious thought patterns with what is true, pure, and praiseworthy (Philippians chapter 4:6–9)
-Setting the mind on things above (Colossians chapter 3:1–2)
-Learning to “cast” cares on the Lord again and again (First Peter chapter 5:7)
-Using thankfulness as a practical counterweight to worry
If you’ve been overwhelmed by your thoughts, this conversation will help you refocus your mind on the faithfulness and character of God—because His past faithfulness strengthens our present trust.
