Old Testament Content and Context begins with an introduction to the structure, history, preservation, language, and geographical setting of the Old Testament.

In this opening class, Pastor Jason Duff explains how the 39 books of the Old Testament relate to the Hebrew Scriptures and their divisions of the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings. He also examines how the Old Testament canon was recognized, how the biblical text was carefully preserved, and why discoveries such as the Dead Sea Scrolls give us confidence in the reliability of the Scriptures we read today.

You will also learn about the primary languages of the Old Testament, the historical period it covers, and why the land of Israel plays such an important role in the biblical story.
