Hebrew Poetry | Job – Ecclesiastes
What makes Hebrew poetry different from the poetry we know today?
In this session of Old Testament Content & Context, Pastor Jason Duff introduces the poetic books of the Old Testament and explains how Hebrew poetry communicates truth through parallelism rather than rhyme. We explore the historical setting and structure of the book of Job, the conversations between Job and his friends, and what Job’s suffering teaches us about trusting God when we do not understand what He is doing.
We also begin looking at the book of Psalms—its meaning, authors, purpose, and the different kinds of psalms found throughout Scripture.
Through Job and the Psalms, we are reminded that God is greater than our understanding, faithful in suffering, and worthy of our trust and worship.
