Introduction to the Old Testament | Part 02

Aug 12, 2026    Pastor Jason Duff

What begins in the book of Genesis?

The word Genesis means “beginnings,” and this first book of the Bible introduces many of the foundations that shape the rest of Scripture.

In Part 02 of Introduction to the Old Testament, Pastor Jason Duff walks through the structure and message of Genesis. Chapters 1–11 introduce the beginning of all nations through Creation, the Fall, the Flood, and the Tower of Babel. Then, beginning in chapter 12, the focus narrows to the beginning of the Jewish nation through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph.

Along the way, Pastor Jason discusses why Moses is understood as the author of Genesis, the biblical account of creation, the entrance of sin into the world, the Flood, and the faithfulness of God through the lives of the patriarchs.

Genesis is not simply a collection of beginnings. It begins the unfolding story of Scripture that will ultimately lead us to Jesus.
